Maria Carrillo is now charged with several crimes, including forgery and attempting to influence a public servant. Her husband, Alfonso Carrillo, and another man were already charged. Prosecutors say Alfonso Carrillo would sell occupied homes to people using phony documents, or would take over empty homes and collect money from unsuspecting buyers who would have to vacate when the owners returned.
