Post-Election Yard Signs Yearning To Be Recycled
Nov 6th 2012, 21:30

LONE TREE, Colo. (CBS4)- After the election what are you going to do with your yard signs? The City of Lone Tree is hosting a drop-off recycling site for election yard signs.

Altogether Recycling, a division of Alpine Waste & Recycling, will be recycling the yard signs.

The drop-off site is located at Lone Tree Municipal Building at 9220 Kimmer Drive on the east side of the parking lot.

The recycle bin can be accessed from Teddy Lane or Kimmer Drive.

People can drop off their unwanted signs any time beginning Nov. 6 through Friday, Nov. 23.

Alpine asks the public to remove the metal wickets from the signs and toss the wickets separately into the roll-offs.

Following the 2008 presidential election, 1.5 tons of unwanted election sign material in the Denver metro area was diverted from the landfill and given new life.

Coraplast yard signs can easily be recycled. This material gets broken down into plastic pellets and can be remade into non-food grade items like lawn chairs, trash cans or plastic drawer handles.
