AUGUST 14-SEPTEMBER 2 — ELLIE CAULKINS OPERA HOUSE
The Tony Award winning best musical begins its national tour in Denver in August (rather than the earlier announced December). It is SOLD OUT. However, there will be a nightly lottery for 24-seats, in which those who take the time and make the effort to wait on line can get a chance to see the show. That aspect has been very popular in NYC.
NOTE: THE BOOK OF MORMON will return to Denver in October 2013. This is unprecedented for a national touring show as big as this one. Subscribers to the Denver Center 2013 season will get priority access to tickets. General on-sale will begin early next year. We’ll let you know when.

I know this story from both movies and seeing the show in the past, but I have never been so entertained by it as I was by the new tour. George Hamilton brings is tan and teeth to the stage, essentially playing the “straight” man for his partner, Alban. It is Christopher Sieber’s Alban that steals the show and your heart by the final curtain. He’s silly, tragic, hilarious and brilliant all at once. I truly enjoyed myself.

BOULDER’S DINNER THEATRE
This 1957 musical was not written for Broadway, but for television. It has starred Julie Andrews (1957), Lesley Anne Warren (1965 — that’s the one I remember) and Brandy (1997). Wonderful tunes and a tremendous family friendly introduction to American musical theater. This is a great summer choice for everybody.
