The Atlantic Wire: Video: Syrian Rebels Shoot Down an Army Helicopter Over Damascus Aug 27th 2012, 10:19 The Atlantic Wire Latest entries Video: Syrian Rebels Shoot Down an Army Helicopter Over Damascus Aug 27th 2012, 10:05 An army helicopter was shot down over a Damascus neighborhood on Monday as Syrians continue to gather evidence of the latest massacre by government troops. Fighting continues to be intense within the Syrian capital, even as more remote towns are still being wiped out soldiers still loyal to Bashar al-Assad. More than 300 civilians may have been massacred in shelling and house-to-house raids in the town of Daraya. Surprisingly, state TV confirmed that a helicopter had crashed, but did not say it was shot down.
