Marvin Hamlisch, the Hollywood and Broadway composer who wrote the music for The Sting and A Chorus Line, and one of only 11 people to have won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony award, died on Monday at age 68. His family said he had suffered a brief illness before he died in Los Angeles, The Associated Press reported, but "other details aren't being released." Hamlisch's biography page on his own website is a good place to start getting an idea of his prolific career in stage and screen. In addition to his three Academy Awards, four Grammys, four Emmys, and a Tony, Hamlisch won a Pulitzer prize for A Chorus Line and three Golden Globes. Check out The Wrap for one of the earliest reports of his death, along with a succinct overview of his career.
